How it works

A Wi-Fi QR code holds the network name, the security type and the password. Whoever scans it with the camera sees an offer to join and, with one tap, is connected: no passwords read out loud or written on a slip of paper. It also works with hidden networks, if you say so.

The credentials sit inside the code, so the connection happens even without internet and without an account: the code is static and never expires.

When to use it

Cafés, restaurants, B&Bs, hotels, waiting rooms, offices with visitors, classrooms and coworking spaces: wherever a network is offered to people passing through, a code on the table or at reception saves the same question a hundred times a day.

At home you print it for guests; at work for the guest network, keeping the internal one separate.

Before you print

Anyone reading the code with a technical scanner can see the password: display it only where you genuinely want to grant access, and use a guest network separate from the one you work on.

If you change the password, the printed code stops working: choose one you intend to keep. Test the connection from an iPhone and an Android before printing, and leave a white margin around the image.

Does this QR code work without an internet connection?
Yes. The information sits inside the code itself, so the phone reads it offline. The trade-off is that the content cannot be changed once printed.
Can whoever scans it see the password?
The credentials are contained in the code, so anyone scanning it with a technical reader can read them. Only print the code where you actually want to grant access to the network.
