How it works

An SMS QR code holds a number and a message already written. Whoever scans it sees the messaging app open with recipient and content filled in: they only have to press send. Everything sits inside the code, which is static and never expires.

The message is sent from the scanner’s own phone at their rate: no intermediary service and no data passing through our servers.

When to use it

Keyword sign-ups, attendance confirmations, quote requests, starting a service by SMS: the pre-filled text guarantees the message arrives in the format your system expects, with no typos.

It also works where mobile data is weak but there is phone signal: a sign in a car park or a rural area can collect requests without opening a website.

Before you print

Use the international prefix in the number and keep the text short: a keyword and little else. A long message makes the code dense and harder to read on paper.

Test the code with a real send before printing, and remember that the person scanning can edit the text before sending: your system should tolerate small variations.

Frequently asked questions

Does this QR code work without an internet connection?
Yes. The information sits inside the code itself, so the phone reads it offline. The trade-off is that the content cannot be changed once printed.
Do QR codes expire or stop working?
No, the codes you generate never expire. If the owner deactivates a dynamic QR code, anyone scanning it sees a notice page instead of the destination.
