How it works

A phone QR code holds a number. When scanned, the camera offers to place the call directly: nobody has to type anything or risk a wrong digit. The number is engraved in the code, which is static and works without an account.

The international prefix, for instance +44 for the United Kingdom, makes sure the number dials correctly from a foreign phone or while roaming.

When to use it

Support lines, bookings, taxis, emergencies, on-call services: whenever the right answer is “call us”, a QR code removes the step from print to keypad. On vans, signs and site boards it lets passers-by reach you.

On product labels, keep the written number next to it for people who do not use the camera.

Before you print

Always write the full number with the international prefix and place a real call before printing. The code holds nothing else, so it stays small and readable even at reduced sizes.

If the number might change, prefer a QR with a link to a contact page: the page can be updated, a number engraved in the code cannot.

Frequently asked questions

Does this QR code work without an internet connection?
Yes. The information sits inside the code itself, so the phone reads it offline. The trade-off is that the content cannot be changed once printed.
Do QR codes expire or stop working?
No, the codes you generate never expire. If the owner deactivates a dynamic QR code, anyone scanning it sees a notice page instead of the destination.
