How it works

A text QR code holds the words themselves, not an address. When scanned, the phone shows the text on screen without opening a browser: it works in a warehouse with no signal, in a cellar or on a plane. The content is engraved in the image, so the code is static and needs no account.

The text appears exactly as written, with no bold and no clickable links. For a web address use the URL type, which the phone recognises and offers to open.

When to use it

Assembly instructions, a serial number, a locker code, a welcome note in a guest room, a line on a greeting card. Wherever a few lines need to be read by someone with no connection and nowhere to go, a text QR code is the most direct answer.

It also works well in production and logistics: a label with structured text can be read by any scanner, without depending on a server.

Before you print

Every character adds modules to the code. A few lines stay readable even when printed small; a long paragraph produces a dense image that must be printed larger and scanned from closer. If the content grows, consider a link to a page instead.

Accented letters and symbols take more room than plain characters. Proofread the text before downloading: it is the only version that will ever exist.

Does this QR code work without an internet connection?
Yes. The information sits inside the code itself, so the phone reads it offline. The trade-off is that the content cannot be changed once printed.
Do QR codes expire or stop working?
No, the codes you generate never expire. If the owner deactivates a dynamic QR code, anyone scanning it sees a notice page instead of the destination.
